Norman Rockwell (1894-1979) as a painter and illustrator, captured the warmth, virtures, and character of America. He began illustrating for Boy' Life magazine and sold his first cover to The Saturday Evening Post at the age of twenty-one. He produced over three hundred more. His illustrations included patriotic works during World War II and themes such as intergration, the Peace Corps, Boy Scouts of America and the Golden Rule. Rockwell painted portraits of presidents Kennedy, Johnson, Eisenhower and Nixon, and foreign world leaders. He produced over 4,000 original works in his lifetime.
