N. C. Wyeth (1882-1945) was one of America's greatest illustrators who also painted still lifes, landscapes and portraits. He is the father of a family of artists; Andrew, Henriette, Caroline and grandson Jamie. Wyeth was a favorit pupil of Howard Pyle. He illustrated the long series of Charles Scribner's Sons Classics and many other books, worked for most of the major magazines and did major mural commissions. He created over 3,000 paintings and illustrated 112 books.
