The first true photograph was produced in 1826, followed by the daguerreotype in 1839, the collodion process in 1851 and finally the modern photographic process in the late 1800’s. The photographic process can be used to transfer a positive or negative image to any material that has been light-sensitized. When a print is reproduced with a photographic process after a work has been produced in another medium, it is not considered an original print. It is considered an original work when the photographic process is a part of an artist’s working method.
