Harper's Weekly 1861 Civil War Cartoons. Black; cream. Paper. This original page contains two engraved cartoons. The first engraved cartoon is titled, "John Bull Between Two Stools." A heavy set man has fallen from the stools. One stool reads, "Antislavery Principle" the other "Cotton Interest." It is signed by John McLean. The second engraved cartoon is titled, "Contraband of War." It is of two African Americans. One is in farm clothing and one wears a Union cap and jacket. Both are bare footed. It is signed John McLenan. ; THIS IS AN ORIGINAL WOOD ENGRAVING.
